As you may know, Patrick Lindecker, F6CTE, is the author of a multimode digital software package known as
MultiPSK. This
free Windows application supports a large number of modes, including one developed by Patrick called
ALE-400 ARQ FAE. When you run
ALE-400 with keyboard is like a live Internet chat (Y!M, Skype, or ICQ). Unlike Pactor that requires an external modem (the new Pactor modem costs more than a new complete PC or even certain new HF rigs),
MultiPSK is a soundcard based program that requires a PC, a rig and an antenna to operate.
Moreover, Anthony Bombardiere, K2MO, wrote his article on "A Quick-Start Guide to ALE-400 ARQ FAE" on QST June 2010 edition.
ALE= Automatic Link Establishment.
ARQ= Automatic Repeat reQuest.
